Geeske Hovingh
Geeske
Hovingh (1979) is studying Cultural Anthropology at the University
of Amsterdam. In 2002 she took part in a research project
in the Upper East region of Ghana concerning t he impact
of NGO’s supported by Dutch co-financing
agencies on poverty reduction and regional development
in the Sahel. In 2003 she joined the Ghana TransNet research
program a nd returned to Ghana to carry out fieldwork on
the impact of international migrants on the lives of their
relatives and friends in Kumasi, a city where many migrants
have lived. She is now writing her MA-thesis based on this
fieldwork.
