Welcome to the Ghana TransNet website

Ghana TransNet is a research program that investigates how transnational networks affect local economies in Ghana and in The Netherlands.

Migrants create and maintain linkages with people back home as well as with people in countries to which they migrate.Migrants create and maintain linkages with people back home as well as with people in countries to which they migrate. These linkages form transnational networks through which all sorts of goods, money, information and ideas flow. Ultimately these flows have an impact on the local economies of Ghanaian cities, towns and villages as well as of Dutch neighbourhoods that are linked to each other through these networks.
